Provides:
pregnancy education | childbirth support | lactation advice | post-partum help
Prevents:
post-partum depression
While women give birth all the time, and have done for centuries, our current culture does not emphasize education around women’s bodies, pregnancy, and childbirth. This situation can generate many questions for a pregnant mother-to-be. A labor coach is here to guide a mother’s true instinct, and direct it in an empowering way to allow you to focus the necessary, primal, and maternal work you want to do with your baby.
We provide pre-natal education to help women manage their pregnancy symptoms, avoid frustration, and wasted precious time at hospitals for issues that can be easily taken care of at home. For example, frequently asked questions are:

• Kick counts
• Why is my baby not moving?
• Spotting/bleeding after sexual intercourse
• On-term pregnancies
• Common colds
• Flu symptoms
• Migraine headaches
• Muscle aches
• Back pain
• Sciatica
• Round ligament pain
We help you understand what to expect during your pregnancy, and also the right sort of questions to ask your medical doctor on clinic visits.
During labor, we provide emotional and physical support to you and your birth team throughout your labor process. We also facilitate communication between you and your partner to the hospital staff/clinical care providers.
After childbirth, we provide post-partum care with breast-feeding education, tips on storing and pumping milk, and managing breaks from breast-feeding. We teach you basic baby care, and how to avoid jaundice and post-partum depression. Light cooking and house clean-up is also available.
We’re comfortable at both home births or hospitals. Here’s a list of some hospitals in the surrounding Los Angeles area:

• Cedars Sinai
