A good way to ease lower back and round ligament pain, while loosening up the shoulders during pregnancy is the Cat Cow pose. It might seem counterintuitive to be down on all fours (especially when you’re 8 months pregnant!), but in fact, this position — letting the belly hang — takes off an enormous amount of pressure from your spine, and feels really good (no, you do not need to do this naked, but you can if you like!). Oftentimes, at the end of my Pregnancy Thai Yoga Massage, I ask my clients to be on all fours, then place a big pillow under their belly…I then ask them to lower they chest down, and rest their head on their forearms. This is a really restful pose for momma and baby.
Try the Cat Cow pose with our Pregnancy Yoga Teacher, Leonie, as she demonstrates in this video:

love this pose – it’s my TV watching posture, plus good for hopefully getting baby into best possible position, avoiding the pain of back-to-back labour. Fingers crossed,
Thanks for your comment — really perceptive about how this pose helps prevent back labor. Our hips get so misaligned from constant sitting. So glad you’re implementing Cat-Cow into your everyday activities!
